The Daily Herald endorses Theodoros 'Ted' Mesiacos, Carl Franco, Michael Saville, Patty Smith and Sherman Jenkins for Aurora City Council dh_opinion
This endorsement is a consensus opinion of the Daily Herald Editorial Board. Aurora voters have a choice for alderman in four wards and for an at-large seat during the April 4 election. Here is how we view those races. Incumbent Theodoros"Ted" Mesiacos is trying to fend off a challenge from Olynda M. De Hoyos in Ward 3. Both candidates say public safety and infrastructure are among their top issues.
Saville, who has been an alderman since 1985, says he is running again because he has the experience, leadership and vision to serve. He points to the grants he helped secure and the ordinances he has sponsored to help improve the city through the years. Marcum says his priorities include promoting economic development, creating new programs to help seniors, and ensuring the police and fire departments have the resources they need.
