But raising awareness of gender inequality alone won't solve the problem.
Nigel Barker, an internationally renowned photographer, television personality, and advocate for women's rights, is determined to solve this problem. Barker says that many men often don't see the need for change, which is why it is so important that men take time to understand women's experiences of gender inequality."It doesn't matter where in the world you travel; it doesn't matter how far away you are, how different cultures and religions may seem.
"I am all about rallying the men in my circles and also in talking to men about the fact that we wouldn't be the people we are today necessarily without the women in our lives," says Barker.Men must let go of the need to be seen as 'a good guy' when it comes to tackling gender inequality because this notion often perpetuates complacency and inaction rather than genuine solidarity.
Barker says men on his team initially saw themselves as 'good guys', but they had to overcome this by learning about their role in creating or dismantling gender inequality.
