Shaker Heights police, during a brief span of time on the morning of Sept. 22, recovered two Kia cars that had been stolen from the city of Strongsville.

Published: Sep. 27, 2024, 7:40 p.m.At 5:50 p.m. Sept. 23, an employee of the Shaker Heights Main Library, 16500 Van Aken Blvd., reported that someone had stolen her locked 2014 Hyundai vehicle from the employee lot on Chagrin Boulevard.At 1:25 a.m. Sept. 20, the SHPD received notice from the Brooklyn Police Department that they had detained a 23-year-old University Heights woman wanted in the city of Shaker Heights for discharging a weapon.At 6:35 p.m. Sept.

It was learned that an unknown man who had caused the crash was walking away and being followed by a witness. While summoning medical attention, officers were directed to the man’s location.Officers detained the man, 36, of Cleveland, and immediately smelled on his person the odor of alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. After being cleared at a local hospital, he refused to provide a breath sample.At 6:35 p.m. Sept. 21, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Warrensville Center Road where a Cleveland woman, 39, alleged that, during a traffic dispute, a 46-year-old Garfield Heights woman had referenced having a weapon while threatening to harm her.

Police investigated the complaint and found no evidence of the Garfield Heights woman having a weapon, but did find that she was operating her vehicle while under suspension. She was subsequently cited for the offense.At 3:50 a.m. Sept. 22, officers were dispatched to the 16000 block of Van Aken Boulevard to investigate an abandoned and damaged Kia vehicle.Then, at 4:20 a.m. Sept. 22, officers observed a Kia vehicle that had reportedly been travelling along with the stolen Strongsville Kia.

Officers learned that an unknown male suspect had attempted to use the credit cards later in the day in North Randall.At 9 a.m. Sept. 24, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Ludlow Road where a Shaker Heights woman, 43, reported that someone had made entry into her residence and stole $1,150 worth of electronics.At 10 p.m. Sept. 24, a 35-year-old woman who lives in the 18000 block of Winslow Road reported that someone had damaged her home’s front door.At 9:05 a.m. Sept.
