The deputy, in Florida, checked under a stairwell just before 3 a.m. last Wednesday, July 17, but nobody was there. Then, he tried the "common room" of the complex, where he found a man "fully nude standing in the room," the arrest report said. "I observed a small bag next to a couch in the room," the deputy continued, "and some clothes on the couch. "The subject, later identified as Gregory Gornell, advised me that he was staying at the facility because he was the emperor's helper.""I then asked Gornell what he was doing" – the first of the deputy's questions – "to which he advised, he was the emperor's helper. "Gornell advised me that the building was under new management and that the emperor told him that he could stay there."Naked inmate tried to jam sandwich into cellmate's mouth, then bit lieutenant"While speaking with Gornell," he reported, "other deputies made contact with the manager, who provided them with a copy of a trespass warning for the subject." It seemed the stark-naked guy had stopped by the complex earlier this year. We don’t know what, if anything, he was wearing that time. "I then asked Gornell to provide me with his name," to see if it matched the person who'd been warned, "to which he replied with the emperor’s helper. "Gornell later advised me of his full name and date of birth, which matched the subject’s information in the signed trespass warning" from earlier this year. The deputy noted the trespass warning was still active, but he wasn’t done questioning the man he was about to arrest. "I asked Gornell how to get in contact with the emperor, to which he advised through the electric lines," his arrest report said, verbatim.The next day, he pleaded no contest, was adjudicated guilty, and also was sentenced to six days in jail. He's due to be released Wednesday morning.
