“God, this is good,” Sanders said in his postgame interview with Fox Sports. “We told you we coming.”Colorado hired the Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer to be their head coach after a 1-11 season last year. Sanders coached at Jackson State, a historically Black college that plays in the NCAA’s second tier of Division I, from 2020-22. The Tigers went 27-5 in the Sanders era and he was named the SWAC coach of the year twice.
Sanders’ upset win led to praise from many current and former NFL stars, ranging from Emmitt Smith to Patrick Mahomes.
