Bode is making it easy and convenient for her customers to get registered to vote in her beautiful Hester Street shop.
It’s an ingenious way to bring new purpose to a brick-and-mortar retail space, especially considering how many first-time voters live nearby in the Lower East Side. Bode is making it as easy and convenient as possible for them to swing by, check out the new collection, and get registered in a matter of minutes. She also hopes they realize just how important it is to exercise their right to vote.
Other designers could consider doing the same if they have the space to do so safely in their stores. It’s arguably more impactful and direct than, say, making a T-shirt, selling it, and donating the proceeds to a non-profit organization. Plus, there isn’t exactly a lot of time: We’re just 76 days away from the election, and if you’re voting by mail, your “real” election day is much sooner.
