Emeli Sande admits she feels she can be herself for the first time after announcing same sex relationship
She explained: 'Even on the [Metro] interview, as soon as I said 'I'm in love with Yoana', he was like 'so what does that make you?' and I hadn't really thought about it, I was just enjoying being in love.
Emeli said although being 'out and proud' is new for her, she said she has never defined who she falls in love with and has developed feelings for both men and women since childhood. Emeli fell in love with Yoana after splitting from her childhood sweetheart Adam Gouraguine - who she dated for 10 years - but said she hasn't spoken to him about her new relationship.
Sexuality: Emeli admitted she has felt pressure to define her sexuality as she gushed that Yoana was her love 'for life' and said she is just enjoying being in love 'It was amazing we had music bringing us together, her musical skills are absolutely mind blowing. Speaking about how her record label reacted to her speaking openly out about her relationship, Emeli said they were very supportive of her and helped her feel 'liberated'.
