Manchester Airport runway was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the incident
Police have confirmed the reason why an Emirates plane was swarmed by emergency services after landing at Manchester Airport.
Witnesses told the MEN there were "police in their dozens" at the airport with "lots of activity" on the runway. It's understood the runway was closed for a "brief period" before normal operations resumed at 7.55pm.READ MORE: Thomas Cashman to take Olivia murder sentence to Court of Appeal A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 7:20pm this evening Greater Manchester Police were made aware of an email claiming there was a suspicious package on a flight. The aircraft had landed at Manchester Airport and was held for further assessment.
