After two burglaries happened in a local city police are reminding people what they can do to avoid being a target. Elyria Police responded to two separate burglaries this week. Thankfully no one was hurt, and police say the community is not in danger.
ELYRIA, Ohio - After two burglaries happened in Elyria , police are reminding people what they can do to avoid becoming a target.Thankfully no one was hurt, and police say the community is not in danger.
Elyria Police Investigative Division Commander Captain Bill Lantz says because of these burglaries they want to remind people how avoid being a target. “Violent crime is down. This was an isolated incident, When it comes to opening the door we don’t open the door for strangers. I would encourage parents to say if someone is knocking at the door, come and get me and I will see who is at the door,” said Lantz.“Be mindful of what types of photos and information you are putting out there. You don’t want to identify yourself as somebody who is flashy or has certain types of property or large quantities of money.
But thanks to indoor surveillance cameras, the little boy’s father first spotted the gunmen and called 911 begging for help. “I can’t imagine as a victim experiencing anything like that it was traumatic. We’re grateful for our dispatchers.
