After the nominees were announced on Monday morning, it became clear the folks who were nominated were overwhelmingly white and, in non-gendered categories, very male. So, Elsie took it upon herself to create her own list of nominees that actually gets it right, and I am so glad this nominations list exists.on Monday, announcing, "I’ve decided to start my own film awards because sometimes other ones suck, so here are the nominations for the first annual Elsie Awards.
Those categories included everything from best actress and best cinematography to best horror feature and best young performer. Like a breath of fresh air, Elsie's Elsie Awards nominees are very much an inclusive bunch, with folks including , Lupita Nyong'o, Park So-dam, Alma Har'el, Jordan Peele, and Ana de Armas getting "nominations" for their work.
