Musk, whose current net worth of $198.4 billion makes him the world’s second-richest person, joins a number of U.S. business heavyweights—including Apple’s Tim Cook and JP Morgan Chase & Co.’s Jamie Dimon—in paying a visit to China at a time when the Sino-U.S. relationship is at its lowest point in decades.
The Biden Administration is seeking to restrain China’s access to advanced U.S. technologies that could pose a security risk, while Beijing responds with tit-for-tat moves, such as the recentMusk used his first trip to China since the pandemic to initially meet with Foreign Minister Qin Gang. He told Qin, a former ambassador to the U.S.
