About 1 p.m., authorities were conducting an investigation near U.S. Highway 287 and Ennis Parkway, on the west side of Ennis, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The office said the investigation is ongoing with an active search for a suspect.No additional details were immediately available about the suspect’s identity or the investigation. It’s unclear what charges the suspect may be facing.The sheriff’s office is asking the public to avoid the area.
