Actress Elle Fanning continues to push fashion boundaries, opting for a bold and theatrical Valentino ensemble at the Directors Guild of America Awards.
Elle Fanning, known for her ethereal princess roles, recently embraced a more daring and theatrical fashion direction. At the Directors Guild of America Awards, she wowed in a custom Valentino ensemble by Alessandro Michele. Fanning opted for a black smoking suit paired with a butter yellow blouse that featured a standing collar, a coquette bow detail reminiscent of a cummerbund, and a matching fringed scarf. The look was completed with a flipped bob and black pumps.
This isn't the first time Fanning has ventured beyond traditional feminine attire. Just recently, she stepped out in a suit and tie, also by Saint Laurent, during a screening. However, her Valentino suit had a more pronounced theatrical flair, largely thanks to the prominent bow across the front. This playful, retro-inspired aesthetic seems to be resonating with Fanning, as she has gravitated towards Michele's Valentino designs on several occasions. This particular look from the pre-fall 2025 Valentino collection follows a string of Valentino appearances for Fanning. Earlier this year, she wore a dress from the same collection, featuring a front bow detail, paired with a dramatic faux fur stole and glittering Cartier rubies. Fanning's affinity for Michele's creations was evident when she was one of the first to wear Valentino under his direction. At the Governors Awards in November 2024, she and her stylist Samantha McMillen chose a sheer mint green dress and matching cape from Michele's debut Valentino collection
