Elizabeth Warren says it's time to end the Electoral College
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., called for ending the Electoral College during a town hall Monday night.
“Come a general election, presidential candidates don’t come to places like Mississippi,” said Warren. “They also don’t come to places like California or Massachusetts because we’re not the battleground states. Well, my view is that every vote matters and the way we can make that happen is that we can have national voting and that means get rid of the Electoral College and every vote counts. “South Bend, Ind.
Democrats have floated the idea of abolishing the Electoral College in the wake of the 2016 election, where Hillary Clinton received nearly three million more votes than Donald Trump but lost the Electoral College. In 2000, Al Gore received over 500,000 more votes than George W. Bush but also failed to win the presidency.
