Elizabeth Warren says she made $1.9 million from legal work before she ran for office:
Updated: 12/9/19 at 10:20 a.m. PST: Senator Elizabeth Warren earned $1.9 million from legal work when she was a law professor before she ran for office, her campaign said on Sunday, offering a detailed look at her income over 30 years as she and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg battle over campaign transparency.now lists more than 50 cases since 1985 on which she worked as a lawyer, mediator, expert witness or consultant.
Each case includes a description and exactly how much Warren was compensated, although she notes she doesn’t have records from five cases and she worked four cases pro bono, for which she would not have received any compensation. She doesn’t have compensation records for the Getty Oil case, for example.
Warren listed eight cases in which she submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court on her own behalf and was not paid by a client to do so. in which she represented Travelers Insurance in an attempt to preserve a trust for asbestos victims. She won the case at the Supreme Court in 2009, and she was paid $212,335 for her work, which had already been disclosed in previous financial documents.
Warren also made six figures—$186,859.59— representing the department store Bergner’s after it filed for bankruptcy in 1991. : The disclosure comes after Buttigieg’s campaign called on Warren to release her tax returns from before 2008 .
