Democrat RepSlotkin has a one-point lead over undeclared GOP candidate and former Chief of the Detroit Police Department James Craig in the race for the seat being vacated by retiring SenStabenow.
A new EPIC-MRA poll shows Slotkin with a 1-point advantage over undeclared challenger Craig, with 40% of respondents saying they would back Slotkin and 39% backing her opponent. Twenty-one percent of voters were undecided or refused to make a selection.Slotkin ranked higher in favorability among respondents, polling at 19% of “total favor,” with Craig holding 16%.
Slotkin, a sitting congresswoman representing the Lansing area, launched her Senate run in February, saying Michigan needs “a new generation of leaders that thinks differently” and “works harder.” “I’m giving some consideration to it,” Craig told the Detroit News. “I’ve not made a decision, so I’m not going to say I’m going to do it.”
