This year the city’s annual Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at The Hemmens Cultural Center.The Kane County Circuit Clerk’s Office will hold a crime expungement clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

Those with minor criminal convictions in Kane County can learn how how their records might be expunged and/or sealed at the event, Circuit Clerk Theresa Barreiro said in a news release.Informational packets will be available, and volunteers will be on hand to help applicants fill out forms.Illinois Brews @ Bowes Creek will be held Saturday at the Bowes Creek County Club in Elgin. The event is a fundraiser for the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation.

This year’s lineup will feature products from more than 20 Illinois breweries as beers made by members of the local Silverado Homebrew Club, an Elgin Parks and Recreation Department news release said. Food will be available from Johnny’s Supper Club and music provided by a local disc jockey. Proceeds from the event will help pay for access to Elgin Parks and Recreation programs for hundreds of at-risk youth.

General admission tickets are $45 and include brew samplings, snacks and a commemorative mug; designated driver tickets are available for $25. Anyone who purchases a $65 VIP ticket will be given access to the event at 3 p.m.
