3100 pickup truck has just been converted into an EV thanks to Californian company Kindred Motorworks., Kindred takes a 1947-1953 Chevrolet 3100 and ditches the original powertrain entirely, in favor of a 74 kWh battery pack juicing up a 294 hp electric motor at the rear wheels. The battery pack features modules from KORE Power and the 6.6 kW on-board charger supports both 120V and 240V charging.
Kindred says it takes approximately nine hours to fully charge the car through a Level 2 charger and that the 3100 can travel 200 miles on a single charge.that makes the pickup unique. For example, the suspension been upgraded with double wishbones at the front, there’s a new electrically assisted rack and pinion steering, and is also rocking power disc brakes at all four corners.
Move to the interior and you will find a heated leather bench seat with headrests, three-point seat belts, a rotary gear selector, a touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an audio system with three speakers and a subwoofer, and a wireless phone-charging dock. “We’re so happy to finally share the Kindred 3100, which rounds out our diverse launch-model lineup,” Kindred Motorworks founder and chief executive Rob Howard said. “The 3100 is a pure EV that combines iconic looks and inherent practicality with a clean, advanced, and easy-to-use powertrain. We take so much pride in every vehicle we make, and the Kindred 3100 is no exception.
