FASANO, Italy — President Biden met with officials during the Group of Seven summit on Thursday. He watched a skydiving demonstration. And he held a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But one thing was notably absent: He skipped a dinner held in the evening hosted by Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Biden has made it a bit of a habit to skip the dinners at the global summits he attends.
In 2022, he skipped a dinner in Bali, Indonesia, for leaders at the Group of 20 summit. During a gathering for dinner in Hiroshima, Japan, during the G-7 last year, Biden departed early.
