“Like with anything that drives anxiety, when you feel like something is outside of your control, it can make you feel more stressed or anxious,” said Marshall. “You feel like there’s nothing you can do about it.” “Think about how much you want to consume this information. You can set a boundary, like watching the news for one hour a day and not engaging with it on social media,” Marshall advises.
“The best way to think about any time you might need to seek mental health support is when it starts impacting your ability to function,” Marshall notes.
