Ending corruption is at the centre of the DA's election manifesto.
The Democratic Alliance launches its 2019 manifesto at the Rand Stadium in the south of Johannesburg on 23 January.During the launch of the DA's election manifesto, party leader Mmusi Maimane promised voters an end to corruption that has tainted the ANC."It meant a better life for some... and they forgot about the rest of us. While too many of our people didn't have water, some were drinking the finest champagne," added Maimane.
The DA announced its intentions to introduce a Jobs Act which will make special incentive offers to foreign and domestic investors who meet a minimum employment threshold in an attempt to increase job and investment opportunities. In the effort to tackle the “institutional collapse” at the Passenger Rail Agency , the DA intends to take action against corruption at the entity.
The 25 percent unemployment rate and plans to “turn over” the South African economy are major talking points for the DA in its 2019 manifesto whereby the party, if elected, plans to achieve a 3 percent Gross Domestic Product growth. Additionally, the DA wants to ease the cost of doing business in South Africa by “exempting small businesses from certain labour and BEE regulations”.
