During 'Wicked' night on 'DWTS,' the 'Parent Trap' alum talks about her sisterly bond with Lisa Ann Walter and the show they hope to star in together.
DANCING WITH THE STARS - "Wicked Night" - Elaine Hendrix performs "Defying Gravity" as Elphaba TUESDAY, OCT. 21 on ABC. "The Parent Trap" alum wowed the judges and audience alike with a show-stopping contemporary routine alongside pro partner Alan Bersten.
Channeling Elphaba from "Wicked," Hendrix soared—literally—into the air on a broomstick, earning a standing ovation and her first 9s of the season. Fans weren’t shy about their opinions either, taking to social media to say the actress was robbed of a perfect 10 for her spellbinding performance.Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and guest judge Jon M. Chu, director of the upcoming "Wicked: For Good" film, praised her emotional and gravity-defying number.Bruno admits she “went into orbit” as Elphaba. “You had the toughest number because it’s the highest, the biggest in the show. And you killed it,” he added. Despite the judge’s praise, Elaine garnered all nines across the scoreboard and was snubbed from receiving at least one 10.“Not only do I have a titanium joint and only half usage, I now have no skin on the bottom of my foot,” Hendrix told our entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno backstage after the show. The actress, 54, also shared how she felt like giving up before taking on her “Wicked” night routine. “We started last week, the day after the show last week. And I literally said to Alan, I don't know if I can do this. I was in tears,” Hendrix explained while tearing up. “He said to me, I know you can. And he didn't let me quit on myself.” Hendrix’s longtime friend Lisa Ann Walter, who cheers her on weekly and joined her during Dedication Night in week 5, also motivated her to push through the pain. “This woman didn't let me quit on myself,” Hendrix explained. “I have to get up here and do this, but I don't do it alone. So, to have their support and everyone's support it's overwhelming in such a beautiful, incredible way.” The two spoke fondly of their sisterly bond, which began over 30 years ago when they met on the set of “The Parent Trap.”Hendrix added, “We're married without the romance.” While Walter made a guest appearance on "DWTS," we’re hoping Hendrix is next to make a cameo on her friend’s hit ABC show, “Abbott Elementary.” “I would love that. It has to be Quinta ’s idea. So go ahead ,” Walters, who plays Melissa on the sitcom, said. Next week is Halloween themed on “Dancing with the Stars,” which airs Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.
