Memorial junior Abigail Tomaski was named a first team All-District 17-6A selection for the 2021-2022 seasonEighteen players from the Greater Houston area were announced as McDonald’s All-American nominees Wednesday morning, joining 722 other athletes from around the nation.
Thirteen of those local players were girls. Westside had the most selections of any school with five, including Kortlin Allen, Kaitlynn Evans, Makayla Evans, Indiya Fields and J’Riana Moore. The Wolves are currently 19-3 overall this season with a 4-0 mark in District 18-6A. Houston Christian, ranked No. 2 in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, had two selections with Loghan Johnson and D’Asia Thomas. Johnson is a Texas Tech signee, while Thomas is headed to Georgia Tech.Other selections included Delanna Carter , RyLee Grays and Jorynn Ross . Grays is a North Carolina signee, and Ross will play at Pepperdine.
Five Houston-area boys players made the cut, including Corey Hadnot II , Zion Harper , Jace Posey , Jaland Lowe and Jamari McDowell . McDowell is the No. 3-rated player in the state and signed with Kansas in November. Lowe comes in at No. 6 and is a Pittsburgh pledge. Posey is right behind him at No. 7 and is headed to TCU. Hadnot is a Purdue-Fort Wayne commit, and Harper remains uncommitted.annual McDonald’s All-American Games will be played at the Toyota Center in Houston on March 28. The games will be broadcast on ESPN platforms and will feature 48 of the top players from all over the country.
