Nwodim shared an instance where she had to perform in a sketch where she wore googly eyes and was essentially unable to see throughout most of the performance. The incident occurred during the Season 48 sketch 'Eyes.
' Nwodim explained that she was unable to see during the performance, but did not disclose that fact to the SNL boss. She admitted that the googly eyes had a hole in the white part of the eye and a hole in the black part, so she could only see when they lined up perfectly. The whole joke of the sketch is that they're moving around crazy.
Nwodim played Janine, a woman who is offended that no one noticed she had her eyes replaced. The performance received praise from viewers following its airing. Nwodim also revealed that she often thinks about the props and appearance of her character while writing for SNL. She shared an instance where she had a wig and costume on, waiting to see if it was still in the show, and her hairdresser would come and peel the wig off her head.
