La comparecencia de Garland ante la Comisión Judicial de la cámara baja fue la primera en dos años y se produjo en un momento sin precedentes en la historia del departamento: Garland está supervisando dos casos contra Donald Trump, el primer expresidente que enfrenta cargos penales, y otro contra el hijo del presidente en ejercicio.
Garland, cuidadosa y deliberadamente, defendió a la agencia policial más grande del país, con más de 115.000 empleados, en un momento en que las amenazas políticas y físicas contra los agentes y sus familias van en aumento.
