El procesado, que había sido detenido en la ciudad mexicana de Culiacán en noviembre de 2023, escuchó los cargos presentados por el gobierno estadounidense en una audiencia realizada en Nueva York frente a la magistrada Ona Wang. De ser encontrado culpable, podría ser enfrentar una condena mínima a 10 años de prisión y máxima de cadena perpetua.
