Chrostowski has been cooking lunch and dinner for more than 1000 people in need with about fifteen local chefs and twenty volunteers, all experiencing the drama of the conflict.
“Yesterday, I was at the hotel where I say and the Iron Dome shot down three rockets that were fired by Hamas,” said Chrostowski. “I feel fortunate for the defense system otherwise it would have hit the building I was in or the building next to it.”
He arrived in Tel Aviv Monday and found it a ghost town with most people either gone or staying inside. The ones he saw showed resolve but carried a heavy heart for the losses. He now heads to the western part of Gaza hit hardest in the attacks, but it’s all part of his plan to help the region with food.
“When you see something you know isn’t right, right, you see innocent people and children being killed and the fact that they were from Hamas,” he said. “I don’t like to sit down and do nothing.” Chrostowski expects to lose contact with his family when he’s in Gaza because of damage to the infrastructure there. He leaves the Middle East and heads back to Cleveland Sunday.. They’re planning on providing 40,000 meals over the next months. There’s a link to donate.
