A 2022 survey of Philadelphia parents found only 22 percent said district schools were excellent or good, compared to 62 percent for private schools.

Schools of choice have higher accountability standards, too. Indeed, if parents are not satisfied with a private school, they can withdraw their child, and the schools lose funding, which incentivizes these institutions to value their students and fight to retain them.

Pennsylvania has the chance to embrace Lifeline Scholarships and make a tangible difference in the lives of countless kids. It’s time our elected representatives did just that.
