THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) has prepared for the possible influx of passengers on its trains as portions of the EDSA Bus Carousel underwent emergency repairs that started Friday night. READ:

Quoting Transportation Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the Metro Rail Transit is ready to accommodate affected commuters.The Department of Public Works and Highways said portions of the EDSA Bus Carousel from Balintawak to Buendia Avenue will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on August 4 and will be completed by 5 a.m. on August 9.

'MRT-3 now has 24 trainsets available and operational after completing its general overhaul of 72 Light Rail Vehicles in November 2022,' Artes said.Chavez said MRT-3's daily rider average now is between 375,000 and 400,000.With 18 trainsets running during peak hours, MRT-3 has increased its ridership to 10 million passengers per month in 2023, from 8 million per month in 2022 and 5 million per month in 2021, which showed that commuters are now riding the trains.
