EDMONDS, Wash. — The Edmonds School District voted Tuesday night to amend a plan to cut creative programs to address the district’s budget shortfall.in western Washington dealing with an unexpected shortage of money this year, including some of the region’s biggest districts like Seattle, Tacoma and Northshore., students and parents have protested the plans to cut special education and music programs to make up the difference.
On Tuesday night, the district decided it would cut 32 positions, down from an initial plan to cut 46 teaching jobs. The board had to vote on a plan in time to let affected employees know before May 15, or else it would be in violation of state law.
