So what does this all mean for the two Republican candidates now facing a runoff? It will take a strong Republican candidate to make a stand in Precinct 2, which stretches from Aldine in the northwest toward Downtown before fanning out to East End all the way to Baytown in the east and Friendswood in the south. We think Morman is the man for the job.
He’s also kept his eye on the unfolding events at the county. Following the evolving indictments of several staffers for County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Morman said he’s been alarmed at the response and that he would call for a review of any other procurement committees that the staffers have been involved in. “The handling of this, in my opinion, has been reckless and irresponsible and damaged faith in county government,” Morman told the board in an email. “We can and should do better.
