It was just before sunset on Friday April 10 when two SA National Defence Force soldiers entered the Alexandra home of Collins Khosa, ostensibly because the 40-year-old was consuming alcohol in his yard in purported defiance of lockdown regulations.
Within a few hours the father of three was dead, allegedly at the hands of troops deployed in the Johannesburg township to enforce the lockdown. Soon afterwards, defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula had the gall to warn the public they should not “provoke” the SANDF.
