Gov. Greg Abbott’s push against diversity, equity and inclusion will set the state back on hiring.

Greg Abbott has set his sights on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, arguing they have tilted the employment playing field.
“As Texans, we celebrate the diversity of our State and the presence of a workforce that represents our rich culture. In recent years, the innocuous sounding notion of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has been manipulated to push policies that expressly favor some demographic groups to the detriment of others,” Pate wrote.
As Texas Tech University System Chancellor, Dr. Tedd Mitchell said in response to Texas Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, during a Feb. 8 finance committee hearing:
