The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at the Haymarket Hub Hotel on Clifton Terrace.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at the Haymarket Hub Hotel on Clifton Terrace at 5.07pm on Saturday January 7 and remained there until after midnight.
No casualties have been reported by the SFRS. Both police and fire crews were seen outside as a large section of the road was blocked off. Travel was impacted from the city centre to the West of the capital as Edinburgh Trams announced on the night that their services would be disrupted due to the location of the fire.
A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “There was a fire within one of the hotel’s rooms and we sent along seven appliances and two height appliances across the evening. Some of these were relief crews from the main crew that was dispatched.
