The Edifier T5s Powered Subwoofer is has an output of 70W RMS and a 35Hz Low-Frequency Response plus it has a versatile connectivity options for a range of audio setups.

Technology journalist specializing in audio, computing and Apple Macs. The Edifier T5s subwoofer is compact and stands vertically so it takes up less space and doesn't dominate the room.seems to go under many people’s radars despite continuously refining and innovating its range of powered speakers and headphones.

The company has recently announced the launch of its new powered subwoofer designed as an introduction to subwoofers and aimed at anyone looking for a bit more bottom end to their audio system.deals with one of the biggest bugbears many people have with subwoofers: the size. To get a big bass sound, you need to shift a lot of air, which means most subwoofers need physically large cabinets to get that big bass vide.Subwoofers aren’t always the prettiest items and some people try to hide them behind furniture, but that can be a problem because they are often so large. To address this sonic elephant in the room, Edifier has produced a smaller, entry-level model with some clever acoustic engineering. As well as being suitable for home theater setups, the Edifier T5s subwoofer can also augment computer speakers.Equipped with an 8-inch, front-firing, long-throw woofer powered by a closed-loop Class-D amplifier with an output of 70W RMS, the Edifier T5s can pump out low frequencies all the way down to 35Hz, which is a good 20Hz below most speakers. It does this while maintaining clarity and control over the bass lines. Some subwoofers can sound a bit flaccid and flabby, a bit like a walrus with a wind problem and some are almost as large. The Edifier T5s is housed in a sleek MDF cabinet and it’s available in a choice of black or brown. The new slimline cabinet still produces high-performance sub-bass, but in a space-saving design. The Edifier T5s has been engineered to bring audio to life by augmenting the sound from smaller speakers — like bookshelf models — with deep and room-filling bass. The 8-inch, long-throw woofer can serve up an immersive low-end and is driven by a high-efficiency switching power supply that powers a closed-loop Class-D amplifier. TH T5s subwoofer from Edifier has an 8-inch, front-firing, long-throw woofer with a frequency response of 35Hz – 115Hz.Combining its analog front end with digital amplification, the T5s produces an accurate audio conversion before amplification. A built-in digital signal processor ensures precise low pass filtering and phase alignment, which is essential for seamless integration with an audio system’s existing loudspeaker setup. The result, claims Edifier, is a smooth and balanced listening experience. The T5s has a cabinet made from 18mm medium-density fiberboard with a construction designed to reduce resonances and minimize distortion. Bass notes can make poorly constructed cabinets buzz a little, so a solid cabinet is essential to produce a tight, clean and well-defined sound. Without distortion or rattling, the subwoofer is better able to deliver a more accurate and impactful low-end with a satisfying bass thud. The Edifier T5s provides flexible connectivity options with both Signal In and Signal Out ports. It can work with a wide range of audio systems, including desktop and bookshelf speakers as well as home theater receivers. If the main audio system features a dedicated subwoofer output, the user can just connect the Signal In ports while the main loudspeakers can remain connected to the audio source. All the controls needed to fine tune and install the Edifier T5s are at the rear, including SIgnal In and Signal Out ports. For systems without a dedicated subwoofer output, the audio source can be connected to the Signal In ports of the T5s before using the Signal Out ports to pass the audio signal onwards to the main speakers. This method enables the subwoofer to be used with almost any audio setup. The Edifier T5s incorporates a smart energy-saving feature that automatically goes into standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity. It instantly wakes up as soon as the audio signal resumes and it’s this approach that helps to conserve power without interrupting the listening experience. The T5s has a cabinet wrapped in a choice of black or brown vinyl with a wood-grain effect and a low-profile grille. The overall design is slim and the T5s can be stood vertically so it takes up less floorspace and blends into any room, even if the cabinet is placed in a tight or unconventional space.
