The countdown to the solar eclipse is on. But with cloudy weather in the forecast for large swaths of the country many eclipse chasers are keeping their fingers crossed that their view of this rare solar spectacle isn't ruined by Mother Nature.

The eclipse excitement is sweeping the nation, with millions of people expected to get out and view this solar spectacle. Coast to coast all eyes are getting ready to gaze up at the sky Monday afternoon with special eclipse glasses of course this, as the moon prepares to pass between the earth and the sun blocking out the sun's rays and ushering in a solar eclipse.

"I think we're all really excited just to be in the line of totality," said Kalee Hume, owner of the Oily Bar Soapery in Waxahachie, Texas. Portions of 15 states including Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, New York, and Maine will fall under the path of totality and experience a total solar eclipse. "Because the moon will be slightly closer to Earth, we're gonna have more totality this time, up to four minutes and 28 seconds," said Associated Press Aerospace Writer Marcia Dunn. For days people from all around the country and the world have been flooding communities in totality zones hoping to secure the best seat to catch the action. Georgetown, Texas Mayor Josh Schroeder added:"We're happy to take their sales tax dollars and put them to work in the community." If you're not in that zone, you still have a good chance of seeing at least a partial eclipse. But totality or not many people are praying cloud cover stays far away.If the weather proves to be a bust, Dr. David Rogers with Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio said:"NASAs gonna be up there above those clouds, they're gonna have this livestream available." And one of the reasons this is getting so much attention and so many people are coming out to see it this could be the last time people in this part of the U.S. get to see a total solar eclipse until 2044.
