BACOLOD CITY: Herlan Gomez of EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental captured a regional boxing belt after scoring a first round knockout victory against a Thai opponent at the Spaceplus Bangkok in RCA Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday, September 28.
Gomez, who raised his ring record to 11 wins, one loss and eight knockout victories, pummeled Komgrich Nantapech of Udon Thani, Thailand with a barrage of combinations in the opening round to wrest the World Boxing Council Asia Silver bantamweight crown.The 24-year-old Gomez, coached and trained by coached by Jomar Fajardo, Frank Jaro, Supanat Chanram, and Brico Langbay Santig, is also the reigning Asian Boxing Federation bantamweight champion.
'Prior to the September 28 match, Fightnews ASIA wrote that a victory by Gomez might get him into the top 40 bantamweights in the WBC rankings.'Our hearts swell with pride as we share the news of your recent victory- as we always do in your previous wins.
