The Eaton Fire, which has scorched 14,021 acres and claimed 17 lives, is nearly contained. While the threat of flooding and debris flows has subsided, recovery efforts are underway with an online map of homes, repopulation efforts, and reopened schools. The devastation caused by the Eaton Fire spurred Pete Mauro and about 20 other Altadena community members to put their tech skills and cameras to work, creating an online map of about 15,000 homes in the zone that allows users to click through to current photos of those properties. Southern California Edison reported that service has been restored to 12,422 structures, with 6,961 remaining without power.
