Passengers who were due to travel with defunct airline Flybe are being offered discounted fares by other airlines

Anyone who was due to fly abroad with the Flybe is being offered special discounted fares from other rival airlines.

It comes after the regional carrier went into administration on Saturday and ceased trading with all scheduled flights cancelled. Administrators have taken over the company, which only relaunched in April last year and the collapse has been described as "disappointing and unexpected". Several companies have now stepped forward to offer short-term help after thousands of peoples travel plans unravelled. The Civil Aviation Authority had advised people to seek refunds via their credit or debit card issuer or through booking agents or travel insurance policies. The CAA has now published details of alternatives being offered to let-down Flybe passengers who still need to travel. Other airlines are offering special fares, it said.

The CAA announced that the airline is offering fares of £49 for domestic routes and £79 for international routes, including a 15kg hold bag will be available on the presentation of their original Flybe booking reference. This will be in place for Flybe customers until February 10.LNER is also offering transport for anyone for free today . Customers will need to present their cancelled airline ticket.
