'Psychopath' Patrick Devaney subjected boys to brutal beatings and verbal abuse from 1970 to 1983.
During the trial, victims spoke of Devaneywith a cricket bat, a length of rubber hose he called "Mabel", or a metal ruler.
One victim described Devaney as an "absolute monster, a psychopath, a thug who assaulted people on a daily basis, numerous times a day". BBC West spoke to three Eastwood Park detainees who suffered life-long trauma after being on the receiving end of Devaney's brutality.Image caption,"It was the worst six weeks and four days of my life," he said.
Andrew Parsons, 62, recalled teenage boys being forced to strip naked and being violently beaten during his detention in Eastwood Park in early 1977 for shop-lifting and petty theft.He describe Devaney as "one of the most brutal men I have ever met in my life".
