The faithful in Rochester gathered at area churches for Easter services on Sunday, March 31, 2024, including St. John of Rochester in Fairport. Our photojournalist, Ben Vahey, visitedin Fairport, where he talked with Father Peter Clifford and people attending mass about their thoughts on the services.
"The Church is full; all of our masses have been completely full. Both last evening and this morning," said Father Clifford. "We are celebrating Christ's Resurrection and what we are celebrating as well, reminding ourselves, in the renew of our baptismal vows, we're reminding ourselves of our call to be Christ's disciples, Christ's missionaries, at our Easter gatherings and in our world.
"I've been a Catholic my whole life, so it just means celebrating the Lord, celebrating with my family, and just enjoying God's word," said Kim Keyes, Fairport resident. "I love the music. The music was very fun and uplifting and you could definitely hear the joy of how everybody sang in the music," said Sophie and Madalyn Comella, residents of St. Louis, MO visiting family in the area.
"Oh just time with the family, remembering the love that we share for each other, and maybe finding a way to make a little sacrifice," said Justin Pelletier of Fairport.
