Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon Watts in EastEnders, has revealed the significant fib she told to secure her role on the soap.
From her affairs with the Mitchell brothers to the sudden death of her adoptive mother Angie Watts, Sharon's life in the famous square has been filled with turmoil and sorrow. However, it appears that Letitia may never have landed the role of Sharon if not for a small untruth she told the show's producers. During an appearance on the EastEnders spin-off show, Secrets from the Square, in 2020, Letitia discussed how she got the part of Sharon, reports the Daily Star.
Award-winning actress Letitia, hailing from Hertfordshire, shared a cheeky revelation: "We had to be born 'within the sound of Bow bells'," and then confessed with a laugh, "I told a porky! " She continued her trip down memory lane, saying, "I said my parents had to go and work away, and I was staying with somebody in 'the sound of Bow bells'. I do remember getting the job and getting the call. I remember that quite clearly. It was just so exciting.
