EastEnders 'confirms return' of Sam Mitchell to Albert Square after Spain departure
Last Thursday saw EastEnders powerhouse Sam Mitchell wave goodbye to Albert Square, as actress Kim Medcalf appeared to bow out of the much-loved London soap.
As well as bidding adieu to viewers of the long-standing BBC show, Sam was forced to leave her son Ricky behind, after script editors wrote than the on-screen favourite had embarked on a major business opportunity in Spain with the hope of bagging some dosh. Though she didn't win over her son or the rest of her family when she revealed her plans to move abroad, Sam did appear to make it clear that the transition wasn't to be permanent.
But fans can breathe a sigh of relief, after producers this week confirmed that Sam's departure from the show is not to last forever, and that actress Kim will continue in the role in the near future.
