Detectives are investigating an East Harlem shooting on Sunday night that left a man seriously injured, police reported.
responded to the shooting after receiving ShotSpotter activation 0n East 116th Street and 1st Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 3. ShotSpotter is the NYPD’s citywide network of sensors designed to detect possible sounds of gunfire, and evoke a rapid police response.
The arriving officers discovered a 30-year-old man on the ground with gunshot wounds to the left side of his torso and his left upper arm. Law enforcement sources said cops immediately rendered aid to help control the bleeding, placing gauze on the victim’s ribs before EMS arrived.Police did not immediately have a motive or a description of the shooter. Initial reports indicated that police were looking for a gray van connected to the incident.
