SAN MATEO COUNTY – A 22-year-old Pittsburg man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in state prison for his roles in an attempted robbery in Atherton and a car theft in South San Francisco, prosecutors said.

At his sentencing Friday, Hollis’ grandmother and uncle shared his “difficult upbringing” with Judge Elizabeth M. Hill, prosecutors said. Hollis also apologized to the victims.
