Full closure of State Route 4 planned starting Friday in Brentwood as workers pour concrete on pedestrian/bicycle bridge.
Drivers on State Route 4 in Brentwood will once again find both directions of the highway closed Friday and Saturday as Caltrans works on a bicycle and pedestrian bridge that will span over the road.
The overcrossing, located south of Lone Tree Way and north of Sand Creek Road, will connect the two sections of the Mokelumne Trail that were separated by the expansion of Highway 4 in the early 2000s. By connecting the two sides of the Mokelumne Trail, the bridge will offer safe access for cyclists and pedestrians for commuting and recreational travel, according to officials.
A new pedestrian bridge is constructed across the Highway 4 bypass in Brentwood, Calif., on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022. The bridge will reconnect the Mokelumne Trail for cyclists and pedestrians. Eastbound traffic will be directed to exit at Lone Tree Way, go eastbound to Shady Willow Lane, then southbound to Sand Creek Road, before proceeding westbound on Sand Creek Road to the eastbound Highway 4 on-ramp.
