Oakland police arrested multiple suspects after an apparent police pursuit shut down roads Wednesday afternoon.
Officers from the Oakland Police Department located a vehicle at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday allegedly connected to a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, Darryl Rodgers, a spokesperson for the department, told SFGATE. The pursuit started in Oakland and continued onto Highway 24 before a vehicle crashed on the freeway at about 1 p.m., ending the vehicle pursuit, NBC Bay Area reported. OPD tried to pull over the vehicle, which was found on the 7200 block of Fresno Street, Rodgers said.
Drivers may experience traffic congestion as police continue to investigate the area. The Telegraph Avenue offramp was closed as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Adib Zeid, a spokesperson for California Highway Patrol, told SFGATE. He said the pursuit was led by the Oakland Police Department but CHP officers are providing traffic control, still blocking the offramp and active on the scene. Rodgers said the department is not able to provide any additional information about the pursuit or the shooting.
