Thursday, Oct. 17, marked day one of early voting in North Carolina.

"There's a lot of people out there, it's really amazing," said Corinne Duncan, the director of elections for Buncombe County.Duncan believes that the community is eager to make their voices heard in the aftermath of Helene.

Those who missed the deadline to register to vote can register at an early voting site during the early voting period. John Lambert, who lives in Asheville, added that this was an opportunity he simply couldn't pass up. He said he waited an hour in line to vote, but that it is a small price to pay to make sure his voice is heard.
