He’s hoping answered prayers save his life and his career.

EARLY COUNTY, GA. - A man who has dedicated his life to serving and protecting, is facing tough times. He is Lieutenant James Kimble with the Early County Sheriff’s Office, who has given so much, but whose life hinges on receiving a kidney transplant.

“Not sure when it started or how it started,” Kimble said. “I was running half a mile every day, lifting weights, in the best shape of my life I thought.”Tests revealed kidney failure that has progressively become more serious.“It has really impacted the life of me and my wife, my mother,” Kimble said. “I’ve always been this type of person that everyone leans upon and to not be able to do things that people need me to do is really frustrating.”“It’s not easy,” Kimble said. “It’s kind of like the game you call hurry up and wait.”“The sheriff’s department has been outstanding to me. I miss them and I really want to come back to work,” Kimble said.“He moved up in the ranks pretty quickly and basically was just my go-to guy,” Early County Sheriff William Price said. “We’re just hoping and praying that we can get him back.”Kimble’s passion for law enforcement comes from wanting to steer troubled kids along the straight and narrow. “As a young black man you just see so much crime going on and I thought that maybe I could reach out to some of the younger youth,” Kimble said. Since his kidney diagnosis, he has been overwhelmed by kindness and compassion that reinforces his belief there is much good in his neighborhood. “I get emotional every time I talk about it because I just never thought that people cared for me like they do and there’s a lot of people that care for me and I am so greatly appreciative for it,” Kimble said.“I’m a God-fearing man and with the woman that I have, she has been there for me through thick and thin and I can’t ask for anybody any better,” Kimble said. “She is just amazing.” If you are interested in seeing if you could be a living donor, Kimble said you can reach out to him and he will connect you with a Living Donor Transplant Coordinator.and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
