However, during this week’s practice, Dean and Cunningham worked together as the top linebackers on the defense.Watkins, the primary slot receiver, missed the two games because of a hamstring injury but came back last week against the Los Angeles Rams, catching two passes for 4 yards.
Allen is coming up for his second game of the year, having played in the Week 3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and will likely fill in a role on special teams, especially as a gunner on punts. Allen could also become a backup option as a kick returner, filling in for running back Boston Scott if something happened to him. In his lone game, Allen had a kickoff return for 17 yards while playing 11 snaps on special teams.
Garner, an undrafted free agent out of LSU who was a camp standout, showed physicality on wide receivers, especially on the outside.
